PICTURESQUE BEACHES

Sri Lanka is a tropical island found in the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. The country is endowed with beautiful golden beaches.

NEGOMBO

Negombo is located on the west coast of the island and at the mouth of the Negombo Lagoon, in Western Province, Sri Lanka. Negombo is known for its huge and old fishing industry with busy fish markets and sandy beaches.

TRINCOMALEE

Trincomalee with its magnificent coast, sandy beaches and sunny weather is becoming increasingly popular among visitors. Its Natural Harbor, Fort Frederick, Hot Wells and Tirukoneswaram Hindu Temple are some of the interesting places to visit.

GALLE

The southern city, a well-known seaport from ancient times when merchant ship anchored here to trade in the Island's famous gems, exotic spices and commodities. The famous fort in Galle was originally built by the Portuguese in 1589 and named Santa Cruz.

BENTOTA

This is a famous beach resort with a 100 - acre National Holiday Resort complex containing several major tourist hotels, a market place, a shopping center, cultural shows and exhibitions. The sea at Bentota is best from November to April.

HIKKADUWA

Hikkaduwa is a small town on the south coast of Sri Lanka located in the Southern Province. Hikkaduwa's beach and nightlife make it a popular tourist destination. It is a well-known international destination for board-surfing.

NILAVELI

Nilaveli (Pronounced Nilaa-Veli, Tamil translation Open-land of the moon-shine) is a coastal resort town located about 16 km North-West of Trincomalee, Trincomalee District, Sri Lanka. It used to be a popular tourist destination.

UPPUVELI

Uppuveli is a gold sand coastal resort town of the Trincomalee District, Sri Lanka located in the suburb of Sambalativu, 6 km northwest of the city of Trincomalee. A historically popular tourist destination of the island alongside the nearby Nilaveli.

UNAWATUNA

Unawatuna beach is a picturesque semi-circular bay beach that stretches no more than one kilometer. As the numerous other fine beaches in the southwestern and southern coastline of Sri Lanka, Unawatuna too is fringed by lush groves of coconut palm trees. However, it has a rare geographical occurrence.

MIRISSA

Mirissa beach is a magnificent sandy beach with calm, clear waters. It is less crowded compared to the other popular beaches and gives you a sense of privacy and peace that will soothe your senses. Not only for the tourists who are fond of beach activities but also the people who like to enjoy the calm atmosphere of the beach gather at Mirissa.

ARUGAM BAY

Arugam Bay, known locally as "Arugam Kudah", is a bay situated on the Indian Ocean in the dry zone of Sri Lanka's southeast coast, and a historic settlement of the ancient Batticaloa Territory. The beach isn’t the only attraction at Arugam Bay. The village of Arugam Bay brings about the loveliest sceneries that span over mangrove, jungle, lagoon, river, rice fields and sand dunes. The surfing season in Arugam Bay starts in April and ends in October. During the season the wind is predominantly offshore.

WADDUWA

The surrounding waters of Wadduwa is ideal for water sports like Windsurfing, and on terra firma, you’ve got games like beach volleyball going on. And as Wadduwa is still a working fishing village, nothing beats a stroll down to the boats as the fishermen bring in the day’s catches.

PASSIKUDAH

Passikudah is a small coastal village situated in the east of Sri Lanka about 35km from Batticaloa. It is famous for its golden bay and clear, shallow waters in which you can wade 50m out to sea. It is a virgin beach and renowned throughout the country for its beauty.
