WHALE WATCHING

Mirissa is sanctuary for Blue Whales in Sri Lanka and every year hundreds of whales gathering in southern coast. Trincomalee is the major location Whale Watching in East Coast and Best period for Whale Watching in Trincomalee is May – October. Kalpitiya and Mirissa are the best location spotting whales in West Cost and November – April is the Whale Watching season in Mirissa/ Kalpitiya. Mirissa Located in Down South and Mirissa is the paradise for watersports and whale watching in Sri Lanka. Kalpitiya located upper part of the Negombo and 2 hours’ drive from the airport. SAILING AT EAST COAST

If Sri Lanka is Serendipity, beach lover will find lots of on the East Coast. The coastline here in uneven with many bays and sheltered coves. The East Coast has to offer some of the best beaches in Sri Lanka, unspoilt and pristine, extending from Arugam Bay in the South to the Nilaveli beach in the East. Sailing in east coast with Dolphins amazing experience and sailing tour about 3 – 4 hrs and start at 6.30 am. In the morning you can experience dancing dolphins and sometimes if you are lucky enough you can spot Blue whales as well.

SNORKELLING

Snorkelling is the best way to view underwater life in the shallow seas of Sri Lanka. The snorkelling gear can be bought or rented in the area. Almost every beachside shop has them. Snorkelling helps view the corals and shoals of fish without damaging them. Hikkaduwa is a pretty little town of the sun and waves, on the southern end of Sri Lanka. The place is renowned for its coral reefs, beautiful beaches and surfable waves. The coral reefs also mean that lots of colorful sea life live in the shallows supported by the coral organisms, the polyps.

DEEP SEA FISHING

This activity is a form of angling that requires deep waters and is usually taken place further away from land. If you are going on a deep sea fishing expedition, the water depth should be at least 30 meters. Deep sea fishing is also called big game fishing, boat fishing and even sport fishing. Deep sea fishing is also quite different from normal fishing expeditions. Taking your boat further away from land means that you will be in deep waters filled with big game fish such as tuna, sharks, swordfish and even marlin. You will certainly not come across these species closer to the coastline since they feed and reproduce in these deep ocean waters.

SCUBA DIVING

Sri Lanka’s Scuba Diving sites offer opportunities for all to enjoy wreck diving, explore reefs and their abundance of marine life. Sri Lanka is an all year round Scuba Diving destination. Most of the reputed dive centers offer PADI certifications that may take about 3 to 4 days to complete. Scuba Diving operators generally have small boats (for about 6 divers) and larger boats for about 15 divers. You can reach these Scuba Diving Sites within 10 to 45 minutes depending upon the distance to the location from the shore. Scuba Diving along the Southern and Western Coast – November through to April at Kalpitiya, Negombo, Colombo, Beruwala, Bentota, Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, and Weligama. Scuba Diving along the Eastern Coast – April through to November at Trincomalee and Batticaloa.

HOT AIR BALLOONING

Hot Air Ballooning flights are subjected to weather conditions on the scheduled day. An early morning wake up call confirms the ride. Air Ballooning is an experience unlike traditional air travel, where u cannot feel movement and the silence is absolute. Leaving you to enjoy the surroundings with utmost serenity and peace. Hot Air Ballooning trips are operate during this season. During the period of November to May, most often the winds are light and the sky is at its bluest. Of the season March and April offer the best weather. However strong winds blowing from the east take you downwind of the mountains on the western side of the island.

WHITE WATER RAFTING

An average level of physical fitness and a strong spirit would do. White Water Rafting, generally enjoyed in the white-waters as well as in other turbulent waters, brings about an enthralling experience to the water sport enthusiasts.Some of the rivers of Sri Lanka afford the opportunity for recreational activists and water sport enthusiast to enjoy White Water Rafting. The small town of Kitulgala in the hill country is the most famous place in Sri Lanka to do so. White Water Rafting at Kitulgala gives the chance to enjoy the stunning tropical scenery of the region. This adrenaline filled adventure sport is suitable for first time rafters and experts alike.

BIKE RIDE

Though cycling is enjoyed in exploring the island, cyclists should be extra careful in the main roads. Riding over the cultural triangle studded with monuments, renovated monuments and ruins of ancient Sri Lanka reward all the cycling enthusiasts in invaluable scale and scope. Though bicycle repair shops can be easily found in major towns, such workshops aren’t often found in rural areas of Sri Lanka.
