HILL COUNTRY

Sri Lanka’s hill country is the most scenic of the island, , hillsides are covered with a sea of green tea plantations and waterfalls.

ELLA

Ella is a small country town on the edge of Sri Lanka’s hill country and exhibits some of the most beautiful views in Sri Lanka. It is surrounded by valleys exhibiting small vegetable plots and tea plantations. The climate is typical of the hill country with hot sun during the middle of the day but moderate air temperatures otherwise with an expected shower of rain in the afternoon for an hour or so. Ella has become reasonably well established for tourism with establishments to suit the traveler.

HORTON PLAINS

Horton Plains National Park is a protected area in the central highlands of Sri Lanka and is covered by montane grassland and cloud forest. Large herds of Sri Lankan sambar deer and the park is also an Important Bird Area with many species not only endemic to Sri Lanka.

TRAIN JOURNEY

Train ride between Nuwara Eliya and Ella. Train journey begin at N.Eliya, a city at the heart of Sri Lanka’s popular tea industry, surrounded by many tea plantations.

LITTLE ADAM’S PEAK

Hiking to little adam’s peak – it’s approximately a 5km round trip and the 360-degree views will take your breath away, pack a picnic lunch and make the most of it.

ELLA ROCK

Hike to Ella Rock – Popular hike offering dramatic views from the mountain's peak, a notable place to watch the sunrise.

LIPTON’S SEAT

The point of Lipton’s Seat is reached by climbing for around 7 km surrounded by peaceful green tea plantations and an occasional colorful tea plucker. There are two routes available; one from the Nayabedda estate in Bandarawela, and the second through the Dambatenne estate in Haputale.

TEA PLANTATION

Sri Lanka is one of the world’s largest exporters of tea. Visit a tea plantation – see where Mr.Lipton started his estate.

NINE ARCH BRIDGE

Nine Arch Bridge – a world famous bridge and if you’re lucky the guards may allow you to walk across the bridge.
